How it works · a design, not a product

# How you work today — and how Kirjaa would do it.

The same moments of a Finnish accounting month, drawn twice: on the left, how the work runs on a firm's desk today; on the right, the same moment in Kirjaa. **Nothing on the Kirjaa side is built** — it is a design, and this page marks every claim for what it is.

**It will not guess — and your answer leaves a record**

- An asset over several years — the useful-life rule choose
- Booked in your name, rule cited, kept ten years kept

- Depreciation booked as it ran already done
- Stock count requested from the client waiting
- Review it, and stand behind it yours

**What you gain:** the close becomes a review of a finished thing.

**Step 9 — closing the books.** The spring mountain is not there — if every month is truly finished.

### 2035 — a tax inspector asks about a 2026 laptop

**The entry is found. The reason is nowhere.** What your hands do

- PDF archive — some years are here search
- Binders — other years are here search
- Exports from systems you no longer use search
- The colleague who knew — left years ago gone

The bill: of the 32 *(34 — re-counted 2 Sep 2026 from the register’s own list of names, §20.1; the run’s preamble said 34 and no list carries the two extra names)* Finnish products we checked, none was found to record **why** a booking was chosen.

KIRJAA.**Today**QuestionsFilingsRecord

Kirjaathe design

**You click the line**

- The entry — €1,190, booked as this year's cost opens
- The rule it was read under cited
- Who decided, and when named
- Unchanged since the day it was booked ten years

**What you gain:** an answer that survives the person.

**Step 14 — keep everything, linked, for ten years.** An answer that still holds in 2035.

**What you cannot see on this page is whether it works** — because the number that would tell you does not exist: how often the system must stop and ask a person, and how often it is wrong. Seven Finnish vendors publish how much they automate; none was found to publish how often the automation is right, on the pages we checked. not measured **There is only one way to find out: run it against a month of real, finished books, where the right answers are already known — and count.** That is exactly what the pilot is.

The pilot

## Kirjaa will be proven on real books — three firms, one month, line by line.

When the system can hold a full month, we will run it next to three accounting firms' normal work, on their own books, and hand back a line-by-line comparison against what they actually did. No charge, no obligation. **And no date promised, because nothing is built yet.**
